This site is to inform folk of my presence in the literary world.
As a child growing up in the 1960’s in Hampshire, I loved all the usual influences. Beatles. Enid Blyton (really loved Beer Rabbit), Bunty comic, ‘Katy’ books and the usual classics, Treasure Island, Moby Dick, Wuthering heights, all Dickens books etc. Advancing it became Jackie comic, Thomas Hardy books (especially Tess…) through to Tom Sharpe. Favourite poems — Rime of the ancient mariner (I always carry Richard Burton’s audio version on my phone), Invictus (To mutter when pain challenges).
My first ever book – I cannot remember the name the title or the content. I was in the brownie guides, aged around seven or eight. Asked to make something to be given away to another child, we would gain a badge to sew on our uniform. I made two little dolls of twisted wire I’d got from dads shed, also scraps of material. I kept the dolls until a short time later when, unnoticed they left home (via the bin?)
As I’d kept the dolls I made up a small book, into which I wrote a lovely story. PROUDLY I handed it in and that was the LAST I saw of that.. In a silly little way i almost like to think deepest down, that some little kiddie treasured it. TILL NOW – BECAUSE I AM STILL MOURNING THE LOSS 🙂
Hobby-wise writing poetry became a bit of a love around the age of twenty. Alongside my sewing with good ability or knitting laboriously slowly and badly. Wallpapering, i felt (back then) was my forte.
Then on TV Opportunity Knocked for the truly wonderful Pam Ayres. I decided to drop poetry, not wanting folk thinking I was trying to jump on the bandwagon.
Away went my little book of my poems that had done the rounds of family/friend.
Years later, to fill a weekly waiting routine my writing resumed. I wrote a treatment ‘Yuletide wrecking-ball’ and took it to the director of a university theatre. I needed to know if the work was actually of good quality (family and friends can be kind). I was told it had everything, sex drugs and rock n roll (I thought “eh?”) …but it required a bigger platform than the stage. Oooerr! Encouraged I commenced a script (presently shelved still). which i naively lent out a while later to a chap in media and never saw him or my script back since. Put off, the writing stopped awhile but eventually resumed and was a Godsend while I was briefly bedridden. Then one tea time roughly around 2011/12 my son-in-law Marcus observed “Eunice, your always writing. Whats it all for?” We chatted just a bit more. Roughly two weeks later my mind returned to that conversation and I set to pooling all my writing work into a heap, from out of drawers, cupboards. I was amazed at the amount. After a good declutter, I was left with what I felt was probably three books worth of writing, PLUS about an overnight case worth of bits and pieces . Quite a bit of what have since used, and I still occasionally trawl through to see if anything becomes useful. Happily the bagful has now largely depleted as I’ve tried to incorporate as much as possible into my works (waste not as I’ll need a lot)
My husband Tony (plus my family, I must say) was the greatest rock when I was struck to virtual death with a strange physical illness. They were most fantastic throughout the l e n g t h y recovery. Tony always told me writing was my forte, and credit to him as he gave me all the space, time and support I ever required, to laze about and comfortably write. Hence I wrote KEDGE SKROPPETT also THOMAS’S TAVERNE CRUNCH COVE.. and A FAIRLY ROYAL FAIRY WEDDING and many other books that will be born to the public. (hopefully! Illustration also time to change my mind, being a holdup.)
When writing poetry (especially the LONG pieces) I mainly do not write to any tune. So please just read the words as they are written, in many cases without rhythm.
Early me, with my wonderful parents, who both together did a very good job of raising me. Well, at least I think so. GREAT childhood I LOVED IT!
GOD Bless them!

IN MAY 2018 I HAD MY FIRST EVER RADIO INTERVIEW

HURSLEY PARK BOOK FAIR 2018
23rd and 24th June 2018, saw the first book fair at Hursley Park, Winchester.
The turnout was great with no less than 50 published authors in attendance with their stalls and giving talks. This was also my debut into book-signing. Having waited to have all three books and my health be up to an all day event. It was great meeting other authors and the public. Lovely to be a part of the event with authors travelling in from all over the country, (Wales, Lincolnshire etc) fun days for my first book-sighning.
My first ever customer was daughter Cheryl and her husband. They bought ‘A Fairly Royal Fairy Wedding’ even though I had already given them copies of each book. I felt I could not charge my own daughter, but she insisted, telling me “I WANT to be your FIRST customer mum!” It is SO good to be her mum! She ALWAYS was a WONDERFUL person. BORN WONDERFUL (Truly NO PAIN absolutely nothing at all then a single rip feeling and TEN MINUTES OF PAIN AND BEAUTY WAS BORN!) Her family is WONDERFUL too! Her daughter assisted me on day one, the 23rd.
2019 My personal ‘Annus horribilis’ in so far as I lost my fantastic mother, gentle mother-in-law, nice long term live in elderly friend, three elderly kind family dogs (my own, my sons, a daughters). No publishing took place on this year for me, as had not in 2016 another annus horribilis that I could spit on as I lost my darling father, the greatest men alive (to me.)
2020 Covid lockdown saw me at home learning about self publishing as had always been suggested by my mother whilst writing her own book MY GRANDFATHERS EIGHT WIVES. One day this may hopefully grace your shelves when I can face it. Going forward though, in a turn around of thought I have taken mums advice on board and have started publishing on Amazon. I have so far this year released my first non-poetic children book THE BIG VAN MAN. Which I have temporarily pulled it from sale to apply changes etc. Also I am happy to announce the availability now of a sequel to Kedge – ORVILLE (SKROPPETT) NOTES.
Please see details of each book on main page.
